LOROS Robins Campaign

26/06/2019Dan Flanders

This week we’ve been busy shooting #ProjectRobin for LOROS hospice. As LOROS is a charity with whom we have built a close relationship, we set out to create a concept whereby we could produce something highly cinematic with the wow-factor in the most cost-effective way possible.

To do this, we had decided to use a small crew and a series of background plates in which we could composite existing stock shots of robins to interact with the actors and help tell the story. To help us achieve this, we took all of the reference shots on set to aid us in selecting suitable backgrounds.

All of the people in front of the camera were staff, volunteers or families with which the hospice work, all who had their own personal stories of losing loved ones. We worked with them to tell their stories in just a few shots for each; cementing the idea that “when robins appear, lost loved ones are near.”.

All of the limited amounts of dialogue was recorded as ADR to keep costs down, leaving just two lighting-camera operators and one director.

The shoot was a challenge with such a small crew and limitations on locations, but we’re really happy with how things went and can’t wait for post-production!
