ATLAS follows ocean wildlife artist Olivier Leger as he embarks on his latest painting ‘Atlas’.
Just as the weight of the world was on the Titan Atlas’ back, so too Olivier is feeling the pressure. Join him as he grapples with environmentalism, the pressures of being eco-conscious, and whether art can really inspire change…
This short documentary is the latest production from Fishbulb Films, a film production company based in the East Midlands, hoping to grow the regions film making industry.
“Can you inspire someone to change? That’s the dream, that’s the dream…”
Olivier’s intricate but expansive work is testament to how much he considers, plans and designs his pieces of art. His pieces show an interlocking ecosystem of diverse ocean life, how they interact with each other and how they need each other to survive.
The style of ATLAS is aimed at showing the beauty of Olivier’s work, but also melancholy and stresses of climate change and depleting ocean species and coral. The film’s aim is to help show a different way in which someone is spreading the message about the threat to ocean life, and whether that can change opinions.

This 30 minute documentary is just the first step towards a feature documentary, following Olivier, his work and finding our how his work can influence change. Olivier Leger – Artist

I create my intricate drawings using with fine tipped pens (0.03mm>) on paper. My largest projects take 6-8 months to complete, my smaller drawings take a couple of weeks. I work from my home studio in Leicestershire in the company of my house rabbit, who I adopted and creatively named ‘Rabbit’.
By celebrating the wonder of life on Earth, my artwork aims to highlight the importance of conserving the natural world in an era of human-driven environmental crisis.”
